2020 Global Corporate Social Responsibility Report

In honor of Climate Week 2020, PDI announces the publishing of its first global Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Report in collaboration with sister company, Nice-Pak, a pioneer and global leader in the production of wet wipes. The report, Together for Health and Life, covers worldwide performance and efforts across Nice-Pak, Nice Pak International, and PDI.

For four generations, the family-owned businesses have been dedicated to product quality, leading-edge research and development, and excellence in customer service.  Outlined in the report, there are three strategic pillars that ground the companies’ CSR vision:

  • Advancing the health, safety, and wellbeing of our associates, our customers, consumers, and communities through our products, workplace standards, and social and ethical standards.
  • A commitment to sustaining our environment through innovation and continuous improvement across all stages of the product life cycle.
  • Supporting communities economically and socially with an unwavering commitment to improving every life that we touch.

Climate Week, an event that brings together companies and governments to collaborate and showcase climate action, serves as a backdrop for the release of the report, which marks the beginning of a new phase of corporate social responsibility for the companies. As part of the effort, a governance structure has been formed that includes a CSR steering committee to develop and manage working groups across the organizations in preparation for the next decade of social responsibility.

PDI and Nice-Pak Associates Participate in Annual Giving Initiatives through Onsite and Remote Community Service

Rockland and Bergen-based sister companies dedicate the day for associates to give back to local communities

ORANGEBURG, NY and WOODCLIFF LAKE, NJ, June 18, 2020 – Associates of PDI, a global leader in infection prevention products and solutions, and Nice-Pak, the pioneer and leading producer of wet wipes, are participating today in volunteer activities both onsite and remotely, as part of the companies’ initiatives to help support local communities. With a long history of giving back through community engagement, donations, and volunteer efforts, this year will mark PDI’s 9th annual “Be the Difference®” Day as well as the 1st annual “Nice-Pak Proud” event.

“These last few months have presented us with tremendous challenges but also extraordinary opportunities to give back,” said Robert P. Julius, Chief Executive Officer, Nice-Pak. “We wanted to give our associates, working both in our facilities and remotely, the opportunity to do something meaningful for their local communities and organizations during this unprecedented time.”

In 2012, the Rockland County local government proclaimed June 18 as “PDI Be the Difference®” Day in recognition of the company’s many social and economic contributions to the community and its decades of service.  This year, at PDI’s Orangeburg manufacturing plant, associates are assembling 850 “Blizzard Bags” for the Rockland County-based Meals On Wheels organization. These vital “Blizzard Bags” contain a full day’s supply of nonperishable food, including tuna fish, soup, almond milk, cereal, apple juice and diced fruit and are used for homebound Rockland County residents.

Additionally, PDI and Nice-Pak associates working remotely are devoting time to causes they are passionate about. Associates are participating in a wide range of volunteer activities, including donating used books to a local library, cleaning up trash in a neighborhood or nearby park, volunteering at a soup kitchen, bringing blankets to a homeless shelter, mowing an elderly neighbor’s lawn, fostering shelter animals, and organizing a collection for food pantries.

“It’s an honor to have PDI’s commitment to supporting the local community formally recognized,” said Zachary T. Julius, Chief Executive Officer, PDI. “Our associates look forward to the annual tradition of giving back to the community, and by partnering with Nice-Pak and their “Nice-Pak Proud” event, we are able to have an even bigger impact for those in need.”

PDI Celebrates Seventh-Annual Be the Difference® Day with Hunger and Hygiene Initiatives

Employees assemble and distribute kits to benefit local Rockland County organizations

ORANGEBURG, NY – June 18, 2018 – PDI, a leader in infection prevention products and solutions, today hosted its seventh-annual Be the Difference Day, a company-wide celebration of local community service, at its headquarters in Orangeburg, N.Y. Rockland County officials formally recognized Be The Difference Day in 2012 in honor of the company’s history of social and economic impact on the local community.
This year, PDI employees focused on community initiatives tackling hunger, health and wellness, through the assembly and distribution of non-perishable food packages and cleanliness kits, benefitting local charities Meals on Wheels Rockland, the New-City based Center for Safety & Change, and People to People, Inc.
“At PDI, we believe in the power individuals have to make a significant impact on the world around them,” said Zachary T. Julius, chief executive officer, PDI. “In that spirit, we are honored to work with Rockland County to give back and actively participate in making a difference in the well-being of our community.”
PDI assembled “Blizzard Boxes,” packages of donated, assorted non-perishable food items, to be delivered by Meals on Wheels Rockland when the organization’s standard food deliveries are pre-empted by inclement weather conditions or other emergencies. This contribution will aid in the creation of over 1,000 packages, and account for 37% of the organization’s projected need for the upcoming winter season.
“We are deeply grateful to PDI for their commitment to aiding Rockland County’s residents who are at risk of hunger,” said Dr. Donald Hammond, CEO & President of Meals on Wheels. “This contribution will provide food and safety to the most vulnerable in our community this winter, and we appreciate PDI for their continued support.”

PDI employees also helped build and distribute over 2,000 hygiene kits from Clean the World, an organization that recycles hotel soaps to provide clean solutions to vulnerable communities. These kits will benefit organizations throughout Rockland County, including the Center for Safety & Change, a nonprofit community organization serving victims of domestic violence, sexual assault and other violent crimes in Rockland County, Meals on Wheels and People to People, Inc., Rockland County’s largest food pantryEmployees also participated in a food drive benefiting People to People, Inc.
